Tedious, meticulous work.
Well, I've been working on this sweater for 3 months now. Granted, I did move during that time, so I've missed about a week or so from working because of that. However, I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel; at least, this first tunnel... I still have the portrait to do. But the portrait should go quicker, because most of it is subtle texture, rather than thousands of crisp forms. I should have the sweater finished in another week or so, hopefully sooner than later. I wish that I could say I was lazy and didn't work very much, because then I would have a solution to speeding up the slow work process. But since I've been putting in full-time and over-time on this, all I can do is keep my patience strong, bite the bullet, and work through it. I will be well worth it once I'm finished, because the attention to accurate form and light on tiny detailed forms will pay off in the overall realistic illusion of the painting. ....I can't wait to see it when I'm all done :-)
P.S. if you're wondering, to the right of the sweater is masking tape for extra support to hold the frisket film together on the canvas. The frisket film is see-through and allows me to create an extra crisp edge to the silhouette.
